China Rongsheng Heavy Industries wins the 'Seatrade Global Performer 2012' award

China Rongsheng Heavy Industries, a privately owned enterprise from China, was awarded the “Seatrade Global Performer 2012” at a ceremony in London.

Mr. Luan Xiao Ming, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of China Rongsheng Heavy Industries, received the award on behalf of the Group. Mr. Luan said, “China Rongsheng Heavy Industries was very honoured to receive this prestigious global award, which demonstrated wide recognition of the global maritime industry of China Rongsheng Heavy Industries’ success. This is the latest award from Seatrade to the Group on top of the “Deal of The Year” at the 2009 Seatrade Asia Award, “The Shipbuilding Award” in 2010 and “The Shipbuilding Award” and “Personality of the Year” for Mr. Chen Qiang, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Group, in 2011.

As at 31 December 2011, the number of new orders of China Rongsheng Heavy Industries for the year ranked first in China and third globally, occupying 15.6% of total new shipbuilding orders in China and 7.2% of those around the world. China Rongsheng Heavy Industries has grown rapidly within six years since its inception.

In 2011, the global shipbuilding industry encountered a severe downturn because of the economic uncertainties created by the Eurozone debt crisis.  The Group’s responsive measure to counter the challenge was to build environmentally friendly vessels to meet international demand, and it paid off in a steady growth of business.

The Group ranked the first with shipbuilding industry in China in terms of new orders for three consecutive years between 2009 and 2011 and its global ranking in terms of orders on hand has also kept rising.
